The first model I owned was a PC9821V12. (S5RC)
This is one of the easiest way to enter the PC98 world, because this is similar to the old PC architecture we had in the west :
- You can use DOS and Windows on it.
- You can connect a normal monitor via 15 pin VGA (careful : you need a screen that accepts 24khz signal for DOS.)
- CPU is pentium
- There are CD player, HDD and Floppy disc drive.
But
You have to be careful for many things like :
- You need a special audio card for playing PC-98 games : "FM audio card".
- You need a second floppy disk drive for some games.
- You need games manual for installing them.
- You will need some special drivers for installing everything (NEC)
- You need specific joypads for playing.
- You need to install DOS 3.3 on another HDD for some game compatibility.
After that, you will be able to play maybe 98% of PC-98 games with your machine ;) !
